This is ducted central heat, not a room appliance. It ties into the existing forced-air ductwork and a wall thermostat and warms the whole house, so it lives in the basement or a utility room. A blower moves the heat, so plan a 120V supply at the install location. Why installers pick the HEAT COMMANDER II

Why homeowners choose it

Built for real Canadian winters

01

Whole-house ducted heat

It ties into the forced-air ductwork the house already has and pushes heated air to every room through the vents, the way a gas or electric furnace does.

Forced-air · whole house
02

Runs on your thermostat

A blower and a wall thermostat bring the heat on when the house calls for it and ease off when it is warm, so you set a temperature instead of tending a fire.

Blower · wall thermostat
03

Long burns between loads

A large firebox takes a full load of cordwood and holds the fire for hours, so the ducts keep delivering warm air well into the night on one load.

Up to 10 hour burn · cordwood
04

High-efficiency certified

Certified to CSA B415.1 and rated on average efficiency, so more of every load turns into heat for the house instead of going up the flue.

CSA B415.1 · 60.7% efficient
05

Needs a power connection

The blower that moves the heated air through the ducts runs on electricity, so plan a standard 120V supply at the install location. The fire itself still burns without power; only the distribution stops.

The questions people actually ask

Will it really heat 2,500 sq ft?

That is the maximum for a well insulated house on forced-air ducting. Your duct layout, insulation and climate all move the real figure, so an older or leakier house heats less. Size it against the whole heated floor area, not a single room.

Can it replace or work with my existing furnace?

It ties into your existing forced-air ductwork and can run as the main heat source or alongside a gas or electric furnace on the same ducts. A qualified installer confirms the duct sizing, the connection and the clearances; the installation guide above lists what the ductwork needs.

What happens if the power goes out?

The fire keeps burning, but the blower that pushes heated air through the ducts runs on a standard 120V supply, so heat distribution stops until the power returns. If you want heat during an outage, plan a battery backup or a generator for the blower.
